Leap For A Cure

Breast cancer has affected many loved ones in our community, and we want to help find a cure. Preston Automotive Group (PAG) is on a mission to support the people diagnosed and their family members by raising awareness and funds during October. In 2014, our first annual “Leap For a Cure” program was held, donating $50 to the American Cancer Society for every vehicle purchased. An amazing 252 cars were sold across PAG last year, raising a total of $12,600. Visit Preston Ford West and the PAG family of dealerships to support our inspirational fight and receive a pink frog as a token of appreciation with your purchase.

Story Behind The Pink Frog

In 2014, our special-edition pink Preston Frog arrived in dedication to our loved Diana Vincent. Diana was a dear friend and previous PAG employee who organized numerous breast cancer events at our dealerships before her passing in 2017. We now “Paint the Plex Pink” every October at our sister location –– the Preston Autoplex –– and wear pink on Fridays and in remembrance of Diana and the millions suffering from this disease.

“1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. There is currently no known cure for breast cancer, and its early diagnosis is critical to survival.” — The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

Driven To Inspire

The American Cancer Society first honored our PAG family as a Community Partner for their “Driven To Inspire” event back in 2016. Since then, we have wrapped a Ford F-150 in pink and park our fleet of pink pickup trucks at local events inviting guests and associates to sign. Join “Leap For a Cure” this Breast Cancer Awareness Month by visiting Preston Ford West and the PAG family of dealerships this October! We hope to see you there.

Let It Snow

As the nights begin to get colder, this is a reminder to get your car in for seasonal maintenance.  Frosty winter weather can be harsh on moving parts within vehicles, and ensuring they are healthy before they have to work harder is smart. The service team at Preston Ford West has jotted down our top five Ford winter service tips to increase your vehicle’s lifespan and will likely reduce the potential of costly repairs. View our Ford winter service tips:

Examine Your Tires

Icy roads are hazardous, especially with bald tires. Check for excessive tread, cuts, etc. If your tire pressure is incorrect, this will affect your fuel economy and handling. Be sure you have a jack and spare tire, and consider getting snow tires for exceptional grip.

Observe Your Brakes

To increase your brakes’ longevity, coast to slow down instead of slamming the pedal, and replenish your brake fluid regularly. Listen for shuddering or vibrating noises from the pedal and notice any lights that alert and let our certified Ford technicians know.

Test Your Heating Unit

Fine-tune your interior temperature for a pleasant driving experience this winter. If you notice a strange smell coming from the vent, antifreeze leaking in the passenger floor, or if you are shivering even when the heat is on, these are signs that your heating unit needs help. Book your Ford winter service appointment to avoid chilly commutes.

Prioritize Oil Changes

Having your oil changed frequently is crucial. Check your owner’s manual for specifics, but in general oil changes are recommended every three months or 3,000 miles. Oil is a key ingredient that lubricates many moving parts of your vehicle, including your engine. Prepare properly for the harsh winter and replenish your oil today!

Check Fluid Levels

Your vehicle wants to stay hydrated. It is essential to refresh your coolant, transmission fluid, engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and repair or replace the hoses that they travel through. You will want to ensure there are no leaks as you winterize your vehicle.

Our Ford winter service protocol ensures that your vehicle is ready for the freezing cold that is upon us, so schedule your maintenance plan with us today!

Inspired by war heroes and thrill-seekers, it was understood by Ford Motor Company that customers were looking for a vehicle that could traverse through trailheads, ranches, and trout streams with ease and dependability. Its G.O.A.T. roots date back to 1965 when product manager Donald Frey and lead designer Lee Iacocca established the first generation of Ford Bronco history. What began as a dream exhilarated the scene for more than a decade, and featured an all-purpose Roadster, a Sport Utility half cab, and a Wagon body style. In 1978, the second-generation arose to a more stout body style sharing segments with Ford F-Series pickups and more luxurious offerings. A year later, the third-generation Ford Bronco (1980-1986) rolled out boasting a smoother ride and better fuel economy. Generation 4 (1987-1991) began the "Aerodynamic Age" for enhancing powertrain and anti-lock braking technology, while Generation 5 (1992-1996) sealed the 30-year Ford Bronco run with premium sound and power windows and door locks. Each chapter of the legacy adds to the proud Ford Bronco history in 2021. A glimpse of 2021 Ford Bronco history uncovers emphasis upon the originality, maneuverability, and trusted 4X4 capability that fans and enthusiasts know and love. Everyone has a Mustang story

Then check out A Faster Horse (2015), and enjoy a rare look behind the scenes as Ford Motor Company’s product team develops the latest – and best – Mustang (see Mustangs for Sale here). Streaming free on Roku channel and only a few bucks on other streaming services like Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Vudu.

Development of the 6th-generation Mustang was a priority even as Ford was hemorrhaging cash and struggling to survive he global recession that began in 2008.  This movie has an amazing collection of footage from through the life of the vehicle, as well as compelling and even entertaining video from inside the design center, factory, and board room.

“We still have leaks and wind noise around the A-pillar,” shares one engineer in a meeting. “So you’re saying that’s the best pillar we’ve ever designed,” quipped another.

Moments like this expose not only the commitment of Ford to build a world-class product, but the raw human emotion and determination to bring the world an incredible car. There are long conversations with Dave Pericak, Mustang Chief Engineer, as well as Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s current chief product development & purchasing officer, that reveal the passion that went into every nut, bolt, computer, and engine component. You may remember Tang – he designed the groundbreaking 5th generation that launched in 2005.

when they’re out there slaying dragons… because they know that if the dragon gets a little unruly… that you’re gonna come in and finish him off… they’ll slay dragons all day long for you, man” – Dave Pericak, Mustang 6th Generation Chief Engineer

Pericak shares his immense passion for both the vehicle and his team, quoted in IMDB. “There’s a lot of smart people… a lot of smart people… held back by their own fears or inhibitions. And if you allow them to go out on the edge, hang out a little bit, knowing that no matter what happens… you will catch them. They will go out on the thinnest branches… even though they think that thing’s gonna crack… they’ll go… because they know you’re gonna be there for them.

“And when they start doing that… when more and more people start doing that… the power that you unleash is unbelievable,” he continued. “Because when everyone stays reserved and [thinks] ‘Well, I’m not gonna do that because I might fail’ or ‘I might get hurt’… or whatever, then the whole team doesn’t progress as far forward as they could. But when they’re out there slaying dragons… because they know that if the dragon gets a little unruly… that you’re gonna come in and finish him off… they’ll slay dragons all day long for you, man. Right?”

This movie is a great watch for the whole family that shares what it takes to elevate vision and dreams to reality, and hey, the star is arguably the most iconic sports car in history. Check back often with Preston Ford West or the latest Mustang updates!

Ford Bronco Baja Prototype

Officially, dealers know about as much as the public when it comes to ‘official’ 2021 Ford Bronco News, and Rtown Ford is no different. We’re excited to have buyers in Randallstown, Baltimore, Owings Mills and all of Baltimore County driving the revolutionary new SUV, but we have to wait for the latest information, like everyone else.

That said, there are multiple media reports this month that of a couple of things…

The new Bronco could have a 7-speed transmission?

A report from TFLCar, subsequently published on CNET.com indicates a 7-speed MANUAL transmission could be in the works. While some high-performance sports cars like the Porsche 911 and Corvette have 7-speed manual transmissions for enhanced high-speed performance, the extra gear in the upcoming Bronco could serve as a low-range, or crawl gear, and eliminate the need for a 2-speed transfer case. That could also reduce weight and complexity with the long-awaited off-roader. Or, an extra cog could give a low-range transfer case a crazy low crawling gear.

Did President Trump get a sneak peek at the new Bronco?

We may never know, but the Commander-In-Chief did visit Ford’s Rawsonville Plant in Ypsilanti, Mich., where Ford factory workers are not only building 50,000 ventilators to help with the Covid-19 outbreak, but vehicle parts, as well. There are conflicting reports whether President Trump got a glimpse, but if he did, we’re VERY jealous.

The Covid-19 crisis has shifted the announcement dates, but we’ll keep you posted. Watch for the latest information here at RtownFord.com and our Official Rtown Ford Bronco page at https://www.prestonfordwest.com/Coming-Soon-2021-Ford-Bronco.html
